BalletX Summer Series 2017
“The dances are full, juicy, atmospheric”
– The New York Times
“Packed with full throttle choreography, inventiveness, and sensuality”
– The Huffington Post
BalletX, Philadelphia’s premier contemporary ballet, will conclude its 2016-17 Season with Summer Series 2017 at the Prince Theater. This momentous series features world premieres by two of BalletX’s longest-standing friends and collaborators, Jodie Gates and Co-Founder Matthew Neenan. In addition to choreographing, Gates is the inaugural Director and Vice Dean of Glorya Kaufman School of Dance at the University of Southern California, as well as the Founder and Artistic Director of Laguna Dance Festival. Summer Series 2017 will also feature the return of Castrati (2011) by award-winning choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. Reflecting on the phenomenon of castrated singers in Italy during the 16th-18th century, Castrati has been hailed as “tour de force” ballet by the Broad Street Review.
